Should I Sell My Home During the Coronavirus Pandemic?
If you were planning on selling your home in 2020, you may think that current conditions have hijacked your plan in favor of you staying exactly where you are. But as the market progresses through this pandemic, agents are combining new tech and safety measures in efforts to successfully connect buyers and sellers.
Use Existing and Innovative Technology
MLS listings have made good use of photo and video tours. Now is the time to take this practice to the next level by offering better virtual tours, including 3D tours that allow viewers to progress through the home at their own pace. Photos should offer more than a view of a living room or kitchen. Consider offering photos that showcase lifestyle as well. Show prospects the lakefront view from the kitchen window, or that cozy nook on your screened-in porch where you curl up with a book.
Staging is Still Important
Don’t’ skimp on staging simply because prospects aren’t visiting your home in person. House-hunters are going dissect every angle of each photo that’s attached to your listing and use that information to determine whether or not your space is right for them. The more visual information you can offer the buyer, the better.
Keep Safety a Priority
Opens houses are being reimagined as private showings. Agents can schedule by-appointment showings so that buyers can walk through your home in person. To keep safety a top priority, consider leaving hand sanitizer throughout the home. Leave the lights on and closet doors open to minimize the need for prospects to touch switches and doorknobs. Clean your home thoroughly before and after the showing to limit exposure to anything that the buyers may have carried into your home.
Trust Your Realtor
Even though navigating the Covid-19 pandemic is new to all of us, experienced Realtors know how to handle times of uncertainty. As the market changes, your agent will adjust their message and delivery to accommodate. If you have any questions, don’t be shy. Working together will help you both achieve the goal of selling your home as safely as possible.
