Blue Ridge Folklife Festival Explores Tradition

Attracting visitors from all across the country, the Blue Ridge Folklife Festival explores the storied heritage and traditions of Virginia. The event spans the majority of the Ferrum College campus and has been quoted as “thoroughly authentic” by The New York Times.

The festival, held annually on the fourth Saturday of October, is a major venue on the Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail. Popular attractions include musicians, moonshiners, mule and horse jumpers, coon dog racing, old-time games, and more. Food vendors are also onsite offering favorites like Brunswick stew and black pot chicken.

Parking for the event is free. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-14, and $5 for senior citizens 55 and over. Children aged 5 and under are free.
