Blue Ridge Folklife Festival 2014

The Thunder in the Blue Ridge car show will feature approximately 300 hot rods, race cars, street rods, customs and vintage cars.

The festival is all about the Blue Ridge heritage which would not be complete without the folk crafts that include everything from tobacco twisting to guitar making. Over 50 artisans will be on hand to demonstrate old-time hand skills. If you haven’t witnessed a coon dog water race or treeing competition then, you don’t know what you have been missing.

This festival is truly a great way to get outdoors and enjoy a day of family fun. Three musical stages will offer 21 solid hours of bluegrass, gospel, blues, ballad singing and string bands.

You can try your hand at using a slingshot and see a movie star trick mule. Come hungry and ready to try traditional Virginia country foods ranging from Brunswick stew to pork skins as old-time foods are the only type of food featured at the festival. Read More→
